Peter Layland
Counsellor
Rochdale Therapy Centre
I am a qualified counsellor, guided by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework.
I qualified as a counsellor in 2014, although my working career started in 1991 when I joined the British Army as a teenager. Since my Army days, I have had quite a few different roles. In the past 10 years, I have worked with adults and young people in the criminal justice system. I have also worked in the substance misuse sector, working with clients who present with a range of complex issues as well as addiction.
Having many years’ experience working within the substance misuse sector, it has given me the tools and knowledge to work with clients on many different levels tailored to each individual’s needs. My own life experiences and challenges have also added to my understanding of issues people can face.
I am an integrative Counsellor, which allows me to use a range of counselling approaches including Person Centred Therapy, Brief Therapy, Cognitive behavioural therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
I have an empathic and warm approach which helps you to explore your difficulties in a non-judgmental and accepting environment.
