Nicola Holden

Counsellor

Rochdale Therapy Centre

I developed a passion for therapy over my years working as an IDVA, supporting survivors of domestic abuse, seeing the changes that become possible given the right environment and mindset. My therapeutic approach is grounded in Person-Centred principles, fostering a safe and empathetic space with my client at the heart of the healing process. I believe in my client’s inherent capacity for growth, healing and self-awareness and aim to work with you to support you to become the best version of yourself.

While this foundation is essential, I also draw from a range of therapeutic techniques to tailor our work to your specific needs. This integrative approach that combines elements from various therapeutic models, such as psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy can provide a flexible and holistic package that can be adapted to everyone, after all therapy is not a “one shoe fits all” we are all unique.

I am also a fully qualified Integral Eye Movement practitioner (IEMT). This is an evolving field focused on quick therapeutic change, particularly concerning unwanted emotions and behavioural patterns. The approach seeks to answer the question, “how have we come to feel the way we do?” This inquiry can lead us to meaningful changes in our emotional well-being. Essentially IEMT expanded upon the principles of EMDR by broadening its application beyond trauma, developing a more flexible and holistic approach by looking at emotional imprints we carry.

I am also a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and I work in accordance with their ethical guidelines. I hold a current enhanced DBS certificate and insurance, while attending monthly supervision.I developed a passion for therapy over my years working as an IDVA, supporting survivors of domestic abuse, seeing the changes that become possible given the right environment and mindset.
